What's Next For The Red Wagon?

Hi, all. If you're coming over here from the Sock A Month Knitalong 3, you already know my dilemma. I am wondering if you can help me decide which type of sock pattern to make this beautiful Claudia's Handpaints Red Wagon colorway into. Please leave me comments and let me know if you think that it should be a cable pattern, a lace pattern, a rib pattern, or any other ideas that you may have. Also, if you have a specific pattern that you are in love with, tell me about it - I'm always open to new ideas. Thanks for the input!

Oh! And if anyone wants to add comments to the Chevron Scarf in the post at the bottom of the page, I'd love to get some input. The picture was taken pre-frogging. I had to frog it because I was pulling the side too tight where the yarns were changing. I'm re-casting-on, though, and I don't know what others think of it (I think that my taste is not quite what others think as "normal," sometimes). Thanks for the input there, too. You are helping me get through my yarn issues. ;)

I have never knitted a sock, so this opinion is unexperienced: I think a lace pattern would look nice!!

I used a similar color of Claudia earlier this spring and made a pair of socks and matching hat for my friend who was undergoing chemotherapy and wanted some socks to keep her feet warm and hat to keep her scalp warm. I used Mimknits pattern: razor shell, which you can find here:

They were really cute and it's a free pattern. The hat I did was out of the new Lace Style book. I didn't want the hat to be too warm so I thought the lace would be good for that.

Hope this gives you an idea.

Blessings!

I love the colorway of Claudia's, but haven't purchased it. Yet. :)

What about Dublin Bay socks? (Google it and the link to the free PDF will pop up as the first link.)

I think I'd keep it simple, as anything too complicated would likely get lost in the colours. If you're going to go to all the work of doing a pattern stitch, you want to be able to see (and admire) it. I'd say ribbing of some type. Dublin Bay may also work, as the lace panel is quite simple.

I'm not a sock knitter and I haven't tried the chevron pattern, so I'm afraid I'm not much of a help. I love your post on your husband's bike trip -- he seems a lot like mine -- sometimes you have to push them out the door and on their bikes for their own good!!
